Codemasters’ Game Genie – a video game ‘cheat’ cartridge which enables users to modify and manipulate data on console video games in order to access hidden assets or make games easier or harder – has just won a landmark legal battle against games giant Nintendo over copyright.
The cartridge was developed by Warwickshire-based brothers Richard and David Darling, and has sold over a million copies worldwide.
So the Game Genie is legal, but is it satisfying – or even moral – to cheat at video games? Jonathan Maitland asks some gamers for their opinions.
