Things are really heating up in Israel as well as in the United States Senate. Key decisions are about to made that will have a major impact on how things go forward with Israel/Hamas as well as Russia/Ukraine … The operative word here is “showdown!”

Prime Minister Netanyahu is reportedly determined to reach a ceasefire and hostage deal with Hamas and is showing new flexibility regarding the withdrawal …sources familiar with a security cabinet meeting said Sunday.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said negotiations are ongoing in Doha and that updated maps are being reviewed. While a deal may not materialize within days, they said the talks are progressing and could take a few more days.
“If a deal is reached, there will be no humanitarian city in Rafah under the current circumstances because no humanitarian zone would be maintained,” one source said. “Netanyahu is willing to compromise on issues he previously held firm on.”
Will there be a deal? At the same time President Trump is saying that he expects a deal very soon. What will happen? Will Hamas accept any plan? We should soon know.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urged Hamas to release the hostages it is holding and hand over its weapons to the PA, stressing that the terror group “will not rule the Gaza Strip” after the war there ends.
The PA had the initial control of Gaza until the citizens voted them out and Hamas in. The idea of the PA being put in charge is popular with many western countries who don’t want to see any type of Israeli rule in the future. Another showdown is coming.
Headline 3 Will the Government Collapse Tonight? Secret Letter from Rabbi Landau Revealed
The escalating crisis over Israel’s military draft law took a dramatic turn as Rabbi Dov Landau, the leading Lithuanian Haredi authority, signed a handwritten letter Sunday night ordering his party, United Torah Judaism to immediately withdraw from the government if no draft bill is submitted today as promised.
In a rare show of urgency, the rabbis allowed a brief extension until Monday night—“a final opportunity” for Netanyahu and Edelstein to deliver. But the message is clear: the time for delays is over.
… Behind the scenes, there is mounting fury in Haredi circles. Leaders accuse Edelstein of deliberately stalling the legislative process to prevent the bill from passing before the summer recess.
Usually, these things get sorted out. However, with the summer recess almost upon Israel’s government it seems we have another showdown here. Again, we should know the results sometime later today as to whether this group will bolt the coalition and bring down the government.
Headline 4 Senators Offer Trump a ‘Sledgehammer’ to End Ukraine War (Newsman)
Sens. Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal announced Sunday a bipartisan sanctions package that would grant President Donald Trump sweeping powers, described as a “diplomatic sledgehammer,” to force Russia to end its war against Ukraine.
…The senators detailed a sanctions package granting Trump authority to impose tariffs of up to 500% on countries aiding Russia, specifically naming China, India, and Brazil as key enablers of Putin’s war machine.
… “We need to, really, express the strength of the United States, because only strength can get Putin to the table,” Blumenthal said.
So, it looks like another showdown is imminent. What will Trump say today about Russia?
All in all, we have a number of major developments happening right now. Israel/Gaza, Netanyahu and the Ultra-Orthodox parties, and the U.S. and Russia.
