Background:
As the Industrial Revolution took off and the 19th Century lead to great changes in medicine, machines, industry, and movement of people into cities in the UK (and around the world) around the beginning of the Victorian Age, children’s special place and getting them out of the workplace and into schools took form and so did corporal punishment if you have ever seen films and documentaries on the period.

However, in the early 1980s, in certain circumstances, it was seen as a breach of Human Rights and one Scottish mother, made to ban in Scotland and then the UK followed suit and it was gone overnight. See and hear the story from the son of Grace Campbell (and another mother), who helped to end Corporal Punishment in the UK – literally overnight, and after around 150 years or so, in state institutions of schools – that all British children had to attend in some form until that point.
