There have been many memorable moments in American automotive history that brought smiles to millions of Americans’ faces. JDM Civic Type R was introduced in the United States in 2017. This was a highlight for Honda10 fans. Although Toyota made a big splash with the announcement of the fifth generation Supra, which we reviewed and loved in 202210, it was not the same without their BMW collaboration. The Honda Type R is now available in the United States. We had the chance to take the 2023 Honda Civic Type R for a week-long spin, and we think this is the best front-wheel drive ever produced.

Thanks to Honda’s engineers, the Civic Type R received a decent bump in power. The 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine will remain, but the 2023 model will get a slightly upgraded turbocharger and a more powerful exhaust system. The stock form has more power, which increases the potential for aftermarket sales. The Type R is still available in a 6-speed manual transmission. This is not a problem. The transmission was upgraded to handle the increased power. Although they didn’t have to upgrade the transmission to handle this power, Honda always puts reliability first. On paper, we have the best Civic Type R, but how does it perform on the road?
