Is that new front bumper an improvement or a step in the wrong direction?
Our spy photographers have donned their mittens and braved the icy cold of northern Europe to bring you the latest sightings of the facelifted Porsche 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera Cabriolet, providing a clearer look at the production bumpers and lighting elements; earlier test cars wore unsightly bumpers with temporary lighting elements.
The new front bumper flows less than the current 992 design, but that doesn’t appear to be a bad thing. The new bumper has separated side intakes which make it look more aggressive. However, we aren’t convinced that the vanes look attractive. These are functional, regardless of how you feel about their appearance. These will be similar to the active aero flaps found on future Macan models.
At the rear of both the coupe and convertible, the 911 flaunts a new bumper with exhaust outlets in the center of the diffuser, but what we’re more interested in is the full-width LED light bar. Porsche has added tape to conceal what appears to be a new design feature at each extremity. Maybe the angle of the light edges is going to be inverted. Or maybe the top and bottom sections will be separated from the rear lighting system. Either way, Porsche is sticking with its tradition of subtle styling changes rather than drastic overhauls to the design.
